The Post-Consumer Pharmaceutical Stewardship Association (PCPSA) is a not-for-profit organization operating in Canada. Its members are brandowners involved in the manufacturing, distribution and selling of prescription and self-care health products.
PCPSA's mandate is to deal with the development and implementation of post-consumer pharmaceutical stewardship programs where needed. This is called product stewardship-industry finding solutions to household special waste.
The program objective is to divert leftover and/or unused medications from landfills and sewers, as well as to ensure safe and effective collection and disposal. The collection takes place at retail outlets (pharmacies), it is then shipped for disposal and incinerated. The program is funded by the pharmaceutical industry.

Public
The public purchases and consumes pharmaceutical products and returns any unused medications to participating pharmacies. Learn more >>
